Gordon and Gillian

Gordon McFarland

Gordon comes originally from Moygashel, Co. Tyrone but now lives in Newtownards, Co. Down.  His artistic ability was first recognised and rewarded at school.  He won prizes for his painting at under 9 years of age in the Castlecaulfield Flower Show in County Tyrone.

But it was not until 1987 that he started drawing professionally.  His fine line art drawings include scenes in Northern Ireland, the Irish Republic and Britain. He also draws family pets. More recently his interest has developed into motorbikes and all forms of motorsport. His portfolio contains more than 400 drawings.

He also takes commissions to draw people's homes, historic buildings, churches etc.  Drawings can be undertaken from old photographs or postcards.

WGA derives from the initials of the artist's name - William Gordon Alexander.

Gillian McFarland

Gillian comes originally from the Wirral, Merseyside.  She specialises in drawing dogs and cats.  She has only taken up drawing again in the last 1-2 years.

At school she had no interest in art and had to have help with her art homework from her father.  It was only when Gordon received a pencil drawing kit as a Christmas present from another family member that she decided to have a go with it.  It was a drawing of two Labrador dogs and it amazed Gillian that she had managed to complete it so well.  This started her drawing other dog pictures and since then has completed many more.  She has also now begun drawing cats.
